OF-DPA integration for Aurora 720 and 620

Taipei, Taiwan 11th of August 2016.

A distribution of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with OF-DPA 2.0 is available for commercial use on Aurora 720 and 620 series.

Broadcom’s OpenFlow Data Plane Abstraction (OF-DPA) is an application software component that implements an adaptation layer between OpenFlow and the Broadcom Silicon SDK. OF-DPA enables scalable implementation of OpenFlow 1.3.4 on Broadcom switch devices.

Full support of OpenFlow 1.3.4 enables feature-rich MPLS functionality for telecom applications.

“We believe that this is the world first available OF-DPA integration on Tomahawk platform,” – said Andrew Sapronov, CTO of Netberg. “With OF-DPA 2.0 it’s possible to deploy a large-scale carrier network at 25/100G speed using inexpensive switch gear.”

The following OpenFlow controllers were used for limited testing:

  • RYU extensions, EA quality (fork from v3.26)
  • dpctl extensions, EA quality (fork from v1.3.0)
  • Open Daylight extensions, EA quality (Helium SR3 version 3.0.1)
